My Story

Before the war, I lived with my family in our home in Jabalia refugee camp. At the beginning of the conflict, our home was destroyed, and we were forced to leave everything behind. Since then, my family and I have been displaced more than ten times, moving from one place to another in search of safety. Today, we live in a tent in Al-Nuseirat camp under extremely difficult conditions.

I come from a family of seven members. Four of us are university students trying to continue our education despite these circumstances. My younger sister has Down syndrome and requires special care, and both of my parents suffer from chronic illnesses. Supporting my family while pursuing my studies has been an immense challenge.

My Academic Journey

I graduated from high school with an average of 97.6%, and I began my medical studies with great determination. I completed my first year with distinction and was honored by my university for my academic performance.

However, the war made continuing my education extremely difficult. I have struggled with a lack of electricity and internet access, often walking long distances just to download lectures or take exams. I study inside a tent without proper lighting or basic furniture, which has affected my health and academic performance. Despite all these challenges, I persevered and successfully completed my second and third years of medical school.

My Commitment to Helping Others

During displacement, I volunteered at a small medical point in Al-Zawaida, where I provided basic medical assistance to displaced people. I treated wounds using skills I had learned before the war and contributed to raising awareness about chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. I also helped educate people about infectious diseases spreading in crowded camps and supported elderly patients suffering from joint and bone pain.

These experiences strengthened my belief that medicine is not just a career, but a responsibility to serve others.

My Current Situation

Today, I am facing one of the most critical challenges in my journey. Due to severe financial hardship, I am unable to pay my university tuition fees, and I have not been able to register for my current academic year. This puts my education and future at serious risk.

My Goal

My dream is to become an orthopedic surgeon and serve my community in Gaza. I want to help relieve pain, restore mobility, and improve the lives of patients, especially the elderly who suffer from chronic bone and joint conditions. I also hope to contribute to rebuilding the healthcare system and spreading medical awareness.
