From Gaza to Healing Lives:Support Mahmoud’s Dream

Story

My name is Mahmoud, a medical student from Gaza, holding onto a dream that refuses to fade—no matter how difficult life becomes.

I chose medicine because I wanted to be a source of healing in a place that deeply needs it. I wanted to become the kind of doctor who stands beside people in their most vulnerable moments and gives them hope when it feels impossible.

But my journey has not been easy.

During the war, I lost my home.

The place that once gave me stability, safety, and peace was gone. Along with it, my family lost our main source of income, and life changed overnight.

We also experienced continuous displacement and instability, moving from place to place in search of safety. During that time, even the most basic needs became difficult to secure—access to food, clean water, and medical care was often uncertain and hard to obtain.

Instead of focusing only on my studies, I found myself forced to take on responsibility just to keep going. I had to work at a small street stall to support myself and help my family survive.

Every day became a balance between responsibility and ambition. Between reality and a dream I refused to give up on.

Despite everything, I did not stop.

I continue to pursue my medical education with determination, holding onto the belief that this path is worth every sacrifice. But the financial burden is heavy. Tuition fees, study materials, and daily expenses are becoming harder to manage, and continuing my education is now uncertain without support.
