My Journey as a Medical Student from Gaza: A Vision for Radiology
My name is Ameen, I’m a 3rd year medical student at the Islamic University of Gaza. Honestly, given everything that’s been happening around me, I’m really proud that i managed to keep my GPA at 87%. Our university got partially destroyed, so now i do most of my studying remotely, but that honestly hasn’t stopped me or changed how much i care about becoming a doctor.
Why Radiology?
It wasn’t just a random choice, trust me. I see the problem literally every single day. Gaza has a huge shortage of imaging equipment and radiologists, and because of that, patients — including people who are injured — often wait too long for a proper diagnoses, or sometimes don’t get one at all. I truly believe that accurate imaging is at the heart of modern medicine, and i want to be part of fixing this.
My Financial Situation & Academic Goal:
The current situation has effected my family’s income alot, and covering the rest of my tuition has become something we just cant manage on our own anymore. This scholarship isn’t just money to me — its literally what stands between me and finishing my degree.
What I Plan to Do After Graduating:
As soon as i graduate, i want to start working in Gaza’s hospitals immediatly. After that, i plan to specialize in Radiology so i can bring real diagnostic expertise back to my community. My goal is to help build and improve imaging départements so that people in Gaza can finally have access to proper healthcare.
